California Style Veggie Ham Melt 



           Today, I'm going to teach you how I make my veggie ham melt. my name is Ramiro Ortiz and you're watching We Suck At Cooking. For this recipe, you'll need the following ingredients. About 1/4 teaspoon of Italian seasoning. 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper. A couple slices of tomatoes. 2 tablespoons of butter. 2 slices of cheddar cheese, though you can use Pepper Jack and Swiss also works very well. 2 slices of deli meat alternative and 2 slices of wheat bread. You can use sourdough as well or white bread.

       Our first step for this recipe is to lightly toast our bread. We're using a toaster oven, but feel free to use a conventional toaster. Now we wait. With our bread more than lightly toasted, we're gonna go ahead and butter the outside of each piece of bread. Now that our bread is buttered, we're gonna start adding our ingredients. One slice of cheddar cheese on each slice of bread. Followed by 1 slice of our deli meat alternative on each slice of bread and then a few slices of tomato. I like to do 2 on one side. Next we're going to take our seasoning and lightly seasoned each side. You don't have to use all of it. We will use most of it. Alright guys, our ham melt is ready to hit the frying pan. make sure that the buttered side is on the outside. First thing we're going to do is melt our butter at medium heat. This is the rest of the butter from earlier. I like to just go ahead and kinda swirl it around the pan. You don't actually need to use this extra butter, but I find that my ham melts come out a lot better when I do. With our butter all melted, we're going to go ahead and drop in our melt. What we're looking to do is cook it until it's golden brown on each side. I'm going to go ahead and grab a spatula cus I totally forgot to do that. Alright, I've raised the heat just a little bit. Press down on it just a little bit. I want it to just get golden brown. Of course, you want your cheese to melt. Ooh, okay. When it's starting to get golden brown, you're going to want to go ahead and flip it over. And there you have it, guys. One delicious veggie ham melt. Look at that nicely melted cheese, fresh tomato still there, and you can see the Italian seasoning and some of the pepper. It looks absolutely delicious. This sandwich pairs well with some potato chips and some soda for a delightful summertime lunch. And now it's time for the taste test. Let's find out how this sandwich came out.

       Mmmm The cheese is nicely melted. The bread is nice and crunch. There's a softness to it, but there's also a nice crunch. And the tomato is juicy and you can definitely feel the spices. Absolutely love it. And of course it pairs well with some chips. If you don't mind, I'll have a drink. Like I said: wonderful summertime lunch. Alright guys, that's it for this episode.
